Munnar, August 18, 2026: Travellers planning a visit to Munnar have a relatively encouraging weather update, with Idukki district not included in the latest Yellow Alert issued for August 18 and 19, 2026.

According to the latest rainfall advisory published by the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA), based on forecasts from the India Meteorological Department, Yellow Alerts have been issued for Kottayam, Ernakulam, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on August 18. For August 19, Yellow Alerts are in place for Kannur and Kasaragod. Idukki district, where Munnar is located, does not appear on the Yellow Alert list for either day. The advisory was issued at 1:00 PM on August 18, 2026.

The Yellow Alert issued for the listed districts indicates the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall. According to the official advisory, heavy rainfall in this context refers to rainfall ranging between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within 24 hours.

The absence of a Yellow Alert for Idukki is useful information for travellers currently staying in Munnar or planning to reach the hill station during the coming days. However, visitors should remember that the absence of a district-level weather alert does not necessarily mean completely dry weather.
