Neelakurinji Flowers Bloom in Munnar
Neelakurinji Begins Blooming in Munnar Town
Munnar: Neelakurinji flowers have started blooming in and around Munnar town, adding another attraction for visitors to the popular hill station. The flowers have begun appearing extensively along the hill slopes of Ikka Nagar, near Munnar town.
The plants reportedly started flowering after the recent heavy rains. A large number of Neelakurinji plants have also begun developing buds along Engineering College Road and near the Police Quarters.
As the weather becomes drier, the flowering is expected to become more widespread. Tourists visiting Munnar during the Onam holiday season may therefore get an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful sight of Neelakurinji flowers without having to travel far from Munnar town.
This season, Neelakurinji has also been flowering extensively in the Chokramudi mountain ranges and along the Gap Road area, creating colourful patches across the hills.
Neelakurinji is one of the most celebrated natural attractions of the Munnar region. Eravikulam National Park and Rajamala, which are particularly famous for large-scale Neelakurinji flowering, are expected to witness their next major blooming season in 2030.
