Misty Highlands Traveller’s Essential Guide

To ensure your 6-day journey through Central Kerala is seamless, our travel experts have compiled these essential tips:

  • Best Time to Visit: While Kerala is a year-round destination, the Misty Highlands are at their most magical between September and March. For those who love the romantic "mist," the monsoon months of June and July offer lush greenery and cascading waterfalls at their peak.
  • Packing Essentials: Munnar and Thekkady can get chilly in the evenings, even in summer. We recommend carrying light woolens or a windbreaker. For the Alleppey houseboat stay, light cotton clothing and insect repellent are a must.
  • Photography Tip: For the best views at Top Station, try to reach before 9:00 AM to catch the clouds floating below the peaks. In Thekkady, a zoom lens is recommended for capturing wildlife from the Periyar boat.
  • Local Etiquette: When visiting the Jewish Synagogue in Cochin, ensure your shoulders and knees are covered as a mark of respect.
  • Health & Wellness: Kerala's backwaters are humid. Stay hydrated and try the local Karimeen Pollichathu (pearl spot fish) for an authentic culinary experience that is both healthy and delicious.
